The product in the box was very well packed by Epson - there is a lot of shipment securing blue tape that needs to be removed, so triple check that before powering up the printer. Overall, my view is Epson has packed thousands of dollars worth of hardware and software into a less than $200 product, so they can continue to sell you ink - which is just fine by me. The WF-4830 also comes with a large number of Epson software tools. The HP-9015 just does not compete here - you will be lucky if you have very thin fingers and even then can get the tip of your little finger to select options correctly. The WF-4830 as well has a very intuitive large format touch screen that is very advanced in features - no problem if you have fat finger tips, as there is enough space on the screen. The WF-4830 is blazing fast (due to piezo electric inkjet technology compared to the HP's thermal inkjet technology), with laser quality printing, and remarkably nice scanning and duplexing performance. On trial runs, the HP-9015 appeared slower to print and slower to scan. Next, I down-sized to looking at the Epson WF-4830 and the HP-9015. I also looked at the EcoTank or SuperTank printers, and since I do not do a large volume of printing, and scan much more than I print, it did not seem worth the additional investment and possibly risking the inks getting dry. These are large and bulky (40+ lbs) printers more suitable for an office than home-office, and besides the HP-7740 has a poor scanning quality.
Initially, I read a lot of professional consumer product reviews, and from there I started looking closely at the wide format Epson WF-7840 and the HP-7740. I wanted a high-quality color printer & scanner (fax bonus) with duplex printing, scanning, and ability to handle up to US Legal (8.5x14) paper. I use iPhone and Samsung smartphones and they both print flawlessly through WiFi. This has to be the most convenient thing in this printer. I was impressed the first time I used it.
The double-side printing is fast, like, really really fast.
I love the multiple scan option in order to create a single PDF file for similar documents. This is definitely the most reliable and fast printer I’ve ever owned (Previously I owned 2 HP Printers) Let me tell you right now that you might think you don’t need so many features in a printer (That’s alright, I was like that too at one point) But once you start using these features on a daily basis, you can’t go back. Blazing fast performance I bought this printer a year ago and it is still performing as good as it did in day one.
